Kitten has always loved tiny things and always wanted a dolls house. So, last summer, during an easing of lockdown restrictions, she went to a car boot sale where she spotted a Sue Ryder 1:12 Georgian house, two up and two down with an attic which she bought for £15.

Her dolls house has an air of mystery and intrigue about it. She wanted to create a strange, vintage world with odd clues to the owner. “Where has he gone, who was he, what’s happened here?”

As you look around the house, you find that it gives away some of its secrets, such as the music and the record sleeves, old books and scrapbooks, circus-type posters featuring curiosities, paintings and framed old photographs on the walls. Look closely and you may even spot a vintage photo of Kitten in her steampunk outfit. There’s an octopus breaking out of its tank; a large mermaid relaxing in the bath. Weird, wonderful and very atmospheric.

At Miniatura this time (Spring 2023) Kitten will be doing a demonstration that you can take part in; showing how she creates her stone walls and paving out of EVA foam. See how aging and texture techniques are used with money-saving materials
