Mini - Equipment

What every miniaturist needs in their toolbox

“The intentions of a tool are what it does. A hammer intends to strike, a vise intends to hold fast, a lever intends to lift. They are what it is made for. But sometimes a tool may have other uses that you don’t know. Sometimes in doing what you intend, you also do what the knife intends, without knowing.”   – Philip Pullman

There are many tools and materials specifically designed with miniaturists in mind and then there is the equipment that had no idea it was destined for use making smaller scales.

When you enter this world you will quickly discover two things:

1. There are tools out there you never knew existed.

2. However long you spend making miniatures someone somewhere still has the capacity to surprise you with a new glue which just happens to look like water, a metal-thingy-with-a-hook or ultra thin wood with a grain that’s perfect for recreating an antique chair.

Over time we will construct a list of what should be in your toolbox and the businesses below will help you find them and so much more.
