Elliott Langford only started making miniatures in 2020 but has a talent for realism that would make you believe he has been doing it all his life.

“It was something I always wanted to do but never had the time to learn. 2020 presented the not so perfect, perfect opportunity. I love the horror genre, in all its forms so it made sense that my work reflected this. I’m mostly inspired by horror movies, books and the macabre. Since a lot of my work is based on urban decay, I’m also often inspired by my surroundings while out and about and travelling.”

“As I live in a one bed flat my “workshop” is the dining room table with a roll cab containing all my supplies and tools. It takes anywhere between 1-30 hours to create a piece depending on the size and the detail. I mainly use foamex, styrene and balsa wood, and I have a variety of different tools, but the main tools I use are an airbrush, a dremel and a craft knife.”

“YouTube is a treasure trove of techniques and with so many makers sharing ideas it’s an excellent place to start learning the basics. Mostly it’s trial and error but I am finding my own style emerge as I develop these techniques.”

Elliott has never exhibited before and Miniatura in Autumn 2022 will be his first show. “I’m excited to see the reaction from the general public and having the opportunity to talk to people.”
