Needle felted mice and 1:12th scale food, accessories and more

Stitchy Tails

I am Rosie Brownhill of Stitchy Tails. I began crafting small Needle felted mice in 2019 and also make 1:12th scale food, accessories and more.

My work is very much inspired by the local countryside where I imagine creatures running wild, and childhood stories involving ‘humanised’ animals. Part of the fun of making creatures for me is watching their personality develop as I create, so I also write short tales about each of their characters. The largest part of my inspiration specifically in miniatures though comes from growing up around my grandparents, Jan and Paul Brownhill of Country Treasures. Their work, and my sister Laura’s work, truly fascinates me.

I have been working with my nan in the past year. She has been teaching me how to make preserves, 1:12th scale food, and giving general suggestions and tips for my own work. It’s a real joy and I am truly grateful to work and learn with her.

My work is created in a few places. Sometimes at my nan’s studio when we are working together, at a studio space I have at my parents, or from a tiny desk at the back of my narrowboat. It really depends on where I am and how much of what I need to get done at any particular time!
