Belinda Armstrong

Belinda Armstrong has deliberately made her Georgian Town House as minimalistic as possible so she can concentrate more on the main architecture – the walls, floors, lighting, windows and fireplaces. As soon as she got the house six years ago, she began putting her own take on it, adapting it and changing it from what it was meant to be. For instance, she changed the texture of the outer walls by putting sand in the paint to give a rough exterior, to try and make it look like stone.

Belinda, who lives in the Cotswolds with her husband Mark and little dog, Dan, said, “I spent a lot of time looking around Cheltenham at the amazing architecture for inspiration. Inside, I’ve put floor tiles down and I have used some painting techniques for the walls. The next thing I want to do is to try and add panelling and architrave. Watching and referring to Pride & Prejudice (Kiera Knightly version) has been useful. I thought the house interiors in that film were amazing.”

Belinda has trained in art and graphic design which also covered drawing and photography. A career in advertising has added to her skills, which helped in the designing, building and decorating of her town house. More recently, she turned her hand to creating miniature paintings to hang on her dolls house walls. And very effective they are too.
