Miniatura

I have been an avid collector of miniatures since childhood and still fondly remember visiting miniature fairs and decorating my first dolls house- a fisherman’s cottage that I was given aged 8.

 

Miniatures have always brought me such joy and in 2020 I had the time to start making them, initially for my own collection. My very first make was a painted polymer clay King Cobra that lives in the hallway of one of my houses.

 

I adore making miniatures and in 2021 decided to start selling some of my creations online and Florence Felts Miniatures was founded.

 

I have always been creative and enjoy using mixed materials and techniques when I am making. I work in a tiny studio desk space at home and love painting and the use of textiles the most. I believe that this is often reflected in my work as my miniatures are usually always colourful and full of organised chaos!

 

I love the endless possibilities for creativity that miniature making offers and I draw inspiration from all over. I create mood boards, look at interior magazines and I love to browse my old miniature reference books. More often than not, however, I will just see an everyday item that I love and think to myself “Ooooh I would love to make that in miniature”.

 

Spring 2025 will be my first time exhibiting at Miniatura. I am excited both to showcase some of my work and to meet other miniature makers and enthusiasts. I hope it will be the first of many!
