Little Deliveries
Hi, I’m Erika from Little Deliveries. As a specialist retailer, my main aim is to provide Raptoor Crafting kits to the UK from the EU via my website.
Angela Kinnunen is well known for her 1/48th scale work but she also has a large back catalogue of 1/24th and 1/12th scale kits which I will be stocking & making up to sell in the future.
The Miniatura show in March 2024 will be our first show exhibiting together, using my dioramas (which will be for sale) but are predominantly designed to showcase Raptoor Crafting’s kits and hopefully inspire people to step outside their comfort zone.
My inspiration comes from everywhere, I love old films like ‘The Pit & pendulum’ (Angela has a kit of the bed & the slicing axe!). There is a dunking stool for witches, a stretching rack and an electric chair…so I am currently designing a dungeon for the pieces to reside and hopefully never be used. Our medical range includes a surgical light, a wheelchair, a tiny bone saw and my favourite – the tonsillectomy tool amongst other things for the more medically inclined.
When I get an idea, I tend to just run with it. I use the term ‘research’ loosely as, after a Google search of my topic to get accurate detail and the scale correct, I like to give my imagination free reign – I love artistic licence.
I work quite quickly, getting enthralled in whatever I’m making. I start with an idea of what the subject will be but I don’t like making fixed plans, preferring to work organically, so it all tends to grow whichever way my mind wanders. I must admit to being a tool/gadget lover (you name a piece of equipment- I probably have it) from the basics like a large cutting board, tweezers, craft knife, every kind of glue known to mankind (my favourite is UHU in a bottle with a fine tip nozzle) Copic markers (for fine colouring with precision) sharpies, Warhammer paints and Stewart Semple paints (his dense matt black and metallic paints are spectacular)
The photographs provided are of what is probably my biggest 1/48th scale diorama. It’s 60cm wide & 18cm high. Angela designed an amazing Covent Garden frontage that I wanted to work with. I’ve based it loosely around the time when it was a fruit & vegetable market in Victorian England to showcase Raptoor’s wagons, carts, market stalls, trestle tables & barrows. I learned very quickly how to make (a lot of!) fruit & veg out of Fimo clay. I also included our prison wagon kit and put in it a gorgeous die-cast harlequin that I purchased from Pollock’s toy store in today’s Covent Garden.
My mind is brimming with ideas for every piece designed by Raptoor and now for sale in the UK from the Little Deliveries website and I hope other people will feel inspired too.
If you are visiting Miniatura in March come & say Hi to Angela & me, we’ll be on the purple stall with the chandeliers.
