When did you start making?

I started 15 years ago as a hobby, making models for model railways

What inspired / inspires you?

I just wanted to recreate real life in miniature as accurate as I could

What was your first make?

First proper make was a little signal box, sadly now in need of fixing. First house build as lnrmodels was a thatched cottagw

If you sell at shows what do you like about that?

This is my first time at a show, but I’m just exhibiting

Where do you do your work?

I have a ‘studio’ in our conservatory, which isn’t ideal

How long does it take you to make something?

It can take anywhere between 50 and 200 hours for a house and garden

What special skills / tools / materials do you use?

I laser cut a lot of walls, but like to hand scribe stonework into clay with my trusty engineer’s scribe

Any funny stories?
Hmm, not really,  but I have superglued my foot to the floor while concentrating/ not concentrating…

What research do you need to do?

I have to study the house footprint in detail and work out dimensions from photos. This process can sometimes take upwards of 20 hours before I even start making

What other craftspeople do you admire?

I’m a huge fan of Hannah Lemon for her intricate hand made details, and my biggest hero is a model maker from the model railway world called Iain Robinson (no relation)

He was my muse and I wouldn’t be where I am today without him. Thank you Iain.
