My Little Fancies

I’ve always loved all things miniature, ever since I was 6 years old and my Dad rescued a beautiful Tri-Ang Dolls House, made in the 1950’s. I fell in love with it immediately and over the years would spend countless hours making it my dream home.

Designing furniture from matchboxes & cardboard with food items from plasticine. I kept that amazing house for 30 years until our first born. We needed the room and I’m sad to say that I sold it and regretted it deeply ever since.

Once our daughters were in their last years of secondary school, I started to make miniatures again. It was 2016 and I found I could escape into my own little world in the evenings and my rare day off.

My idea of making miniature Room Boxes from Frames, Boxes, Lanterns and filling them with beautiful miniature scenes soon took up available work space. Needing to make more room at home,

I found myself selling them in a local craft shop, free storage!

To my surprise, the boxes sold like hot cakes. From there MyLittleFancies grew. Soon people were asking me to make boxes for them and commission things I wouldn’t  have thought of at all. Slowly, purposefully, my wonderful hobby and budding part time business came into being.

When the pandemic hit, I found I had all the time in the world to create, it kept me busy during the lockdowns and it was then I found Etsy.

During lockdown my husband bought two 3D printers, one for each of us and we learned, tried and failed prints many times. It didn’t take long before I was printing the most and so he set me up with my “Printing Stations”, on the sideboard in the living room!

Printing Miniatures is wonderful, the technology is amazing, that from a length of filament, imagination and time, a solid 3D item can be willed into existence, for me to customize, paint, age and add flowers or my favourite, decoupage. I absolutely adore the way i can create unique, individual items, that would have been impossible not so long ago.

It’s so exciting to be exhibiting at Minatura and I shall be supported as always by my Husband Chris. We really look forward to meeting like minded people in person and who knows, maybe some of my many Etsy customers, who have become part of my miniature family.
