Miniature mice and characters. Needle felting workshop.

When I was a teenager, my uncle used to tease me: “you’ll be dating boys soon but you’re still playing with teddies”. Well, now I am a middle-aged mum with three kids and I am not only playing with teddies but I make them! And I’m proud of it!

The world of miniatures touched me again when my daughter was a little girl. I was amazed at how creative she was building her own little houses and furniture out of every day household items, and as she grew, her homemade dollhouses and dioramas got smaller and smaller. I was simply thrilled when she invited me to join her magical world of tiny bits. After a while she more or less grew out if this world (hopefully, only for a short time) but I got stuck.

I always loved dressing and accessorizing the tiny dolls and animals but I found that the shop-bought teddy bears were quite poor quality, usually falling apart. So when I was gifted a beginners needle felting kit I challenged myself to make my own teddy bears. Then I realised mice are even better as they are tripod (2 legs and a tail), so can pose better than teddy bears; it’s nicer to put them into little scenes to tell stories with them.

But the little mice needed even tinier cuddly toys, so I started to make them “vintage” teddy bears from pipe cleaners.
Probably, in my next phase I will be making even smaller mice for the tiny pipe cleaner teddy bears!  My eyesight will be the only limit!
