I’ve always loved making miniatures for my dolls as a child, but didn’t have a proper collectors dolls house until I was 20 years of age. I was soon hooked and enjoyed decorating my six room Georgian style house. I had a go at making my own miniatures, but most things were bought from shops and exhibitions. I remember going to Miniatura Exhibition over 30 years ago, and it was the biggest inspiration ever!
The hobby continued on and off, but during the pandemic and lockdown decided to purchase another building, this time with a shop. Not stopped since then, and even got shortlisted to be a contestant on, Channel 4’s ‘The Big Tiny Design Challenge’! It was so tense and hard as all the competitors had amazing unique skills. I couldn’t believe I got in the final! I learned so much from the other contestants on the show and it was amazing to spend the time with like-minded people.
Due to my appearance on the program I was contacted by a publisher asking if I would be interested in writing a book. Two years later here I am with a published book! I’ve written it with beginners in mind from my experiences of making different dioramas. Hopefully it will in inspire many more people with this wonderful hobby!
