Miniatura

I started making miniature dioramas to photograph in 2006 as the subjects of my still-life artworks. I continued this practice for many years, even writing my dissertation at the Royal College of Art about the theory and practice of miniaturisation. In 2024, after spending years looking for good modern miniature lighting, I decided to launch my own business, called ‘Small Fixtures’. I could never find exactly what I was looking for, so I figured if I created it, there would be a market for it. It took about a year and a half of researching materials, finding suppliers and working out the perfect proportions before I began selling.

I work mostly alone in my studio, so doing miniature shows is a great way to connect with other miniaturists and get insight into the imagined worlds my lights might become a part of.
