Miniatura

Thimblemins is the brainchild of Jane Timms and husband Paul and is based in Tamworth. It all began when Jane joined a group called the British Miniature Doll Guild. Although the group eventually folded, by then Jane had been bitten by the bug and continued making miniatures.

She decided to specialise in 1/12^th scale babies and nursery items, making beautiful prams, strollers, highchairs, cots, bouncy chairs, playpens, changing mats and other baby items. She also went into creating fantasy items such as enchantments, witch’s hats and broomsticks. Also, furniture, piles of suitcases and gingham-topped jams and pickles – all delightful things for your dolls house.

It was at the British Miniature Doll Guild that Jane met Toni and John who run Smallsorts and have kept in touch ever since. You’ll find their stalls back to back at Miniatura – and on normal working days Jane and Toni keep in touch virtually.  

Jane and Paul attend various shows throughout the year but say that the run up to Miniatura is the one they really pull out all the stops for. Jane said: “Everything gets sorted out, boxes cleared out and re-packed. We put up our display to see how it looks before the show. Toni and John at Smallsorts do the same. Again, we link up so we can talk about what we’re doing as well as offering each other advice and ideas.”

Jane and Paul are really looking forward to the next Miniatura Show in the Autumn at Stoneleigh. Jane added, “This is our favourite show, we love the buzz and love seeing people we haven’t seen in ages.”
