Wild Swan Crafts
Miniatures inspired by the natural world and architectural models.
We started way back in 1997 when we were known as Firefly Miniatures. We attended Scottish fairs, Miniatura in Glasgow and Miniatura in Birmingham. We retired in 2008 but found it was impossible to give up thinking and making miniatures so we began selling again in 2012, this time under Wildswancrafts.
Alison was involved with an architectural practice and so has remained in love with old buildings.
Margaret, on the other hand, was involved with country estates and both of us adore all things nature. Hopefully this shows in our work.
Fortunately, we have two places to work – a workshop in the garden for doing the rough parts and a small studio, also in the garden. The dogs (two) wander in and out; the birds sing and it makes both spaces very special.
The kettle is a favourite piece of kit as, depending on what we are making be it in the form of a single item, a house or diorama which can take anything from a week to a couple of months, the kettle is an important tool for both inspiration and a useful chat.
