Getting the right products to create dolls house miniatures makes all the difference to the finished outcome. And one business which excels in producing the necessary glues and accessories is De Luxe Materials. They are creators and innovators of more than 100 specialist adhesive and doll house modelling products including Roket Glue, Tacky Wax, Scenic and Solid Water.
John and Vivienne Bristow are the couple behind De Luxe Materials, and many model makers will be familiar with their products. As mentioned, they specialise in adhesives, scenic, glue accessories and model finishing products. Amongst their most popular products for miniaturists are Solid Water, Tacky Wax, Perfect Plastic Putty, Pin Point syringe Kit and Scenic Water.
The couple who are based in Bramley, Hampshire have a passion for modelling, and started their business to make better products for hobbyists. John said: “As modellers, we can understand modellers’ needs. As chemists we have the skill to create the best products.”

As such they have formulated, surveyed, manufactured and grown their business carefully over the last 45 years. Using their chemical knowledge and modelling know-how, they have designed products that not just work – but work the best. They also take great care of the modeller’s health by careful attention to their formulations.
Many of their customers are miniaturists and their products are available from all good doll’s house shops. The couple also have a big on-line presence in the trade, with dealers and distributors in 39 different countries including Streets Ahead and Aztec Imports. They are always pleased to hear from distributors and dealers anywhere in the world.
John and Vivienne enjoy seeing how their products have been put to good use with modellers and miniaturists’ work, but one of their most unusual requests for a product was from a MSc conservation student who needed to study the behaviour of beetles! John recommended ‘Tacky Wax’ so the student could attach a miniature recording device to a beetle’s back as it went about its usual burrowing – without the adhesive harming the little creature.

John added: “Over many years of exhibiting at Miniatura we are always astounded by the skills shown by miniaturists and the creativity when using our products. If you are already one of our customers, we say thank you! If not, we hope to serve you soon.
